Who Writes This Stuff?

G'day folks. I'm Joe, an Aussie living in the UK, right at the start of my writing career. Well, I hope it'll be a career, which is kinda where this Substack comes in.

You see, while I've always enjoyed writing and have had pieces appears online previously, in early 2023 I was finally presented with the opportunity to write my first book. The book now written and well into the getting-ready-for-print process, I’ve found my confidence as a writer has shot up a bit. Thus, I thought I’d try and actually make something of a career out of it. I’m not looking to create swimming pool filling amounts of cash (although that would be nice), but more just hoping to be able to get my stuff out there for folks to read.

As you’ll have seen - and the name probably tipped you off - I write mostly about geek-centric subjects. Comics (my first love), collecting, video games, maybe film and TV on the odd occasion. That’s what the main thrust (at least for now) of this Sub will be. I also post more personal stories from time to time under the The Journal section. These will be about what I’m currently up to, how things are going with my book and any other projects, or just stuff I wanted to post about that aren’t really geek-related.

As mentioned in by above character sheet, I’m also a bit of an artist. I haven’t figured out a way of sharing art on here yet (outside of Notes, anyway), but if you’re interested you can check out my work here.

I also have an “real” portfolio website at JMDWorks.org, and am on Instagram if you’d like to check those out.

Everything on my Sub is free to everyone for the moment. That may change in the future, especially if I start posting fiction, but for now; have at it. However, if you would like to support me, paid subscriptions are open as well (see below for the idea behind that).

Well, I think that about covers everything. Thanks for stopping by, it’s much appreciated.

TTFN (Ta ta for now)!

Paid Subscriptions

As you’ll have noticed, all my content is free. I feel weird charging for my articles, so I’ve not paywalled anything*. However, if you enjoy my work and would like to ensure I’m able to continue doing it, there is the option to support me via the paid subscription options.

While I won’t (at least at the moment) be offering any extra content for paid subscribers, you’ll have my eternal gratitude for helping me continue to do what I love. Think of paid options as similar to Ko-Fi; throwing me a few dollarbucks in appreciation of my work. You can, of course, cancel the submission at any time.

*If I add any of my fiction to Substack in the future I may paywall it. This will most likely be a way off ye though.
