September was not the best month, mainly due to the fact I was unceremoniously fired from my job. Just shy of six months, I was told that I had not “reached the level of understanding expected,” despite the fact that I had asked twice for further training and never received it. Due to this, my mental health took a beating.
So, to other things;
Writing
I've seen a mock-up of the History of SEGA cover. It looks amazing! I suggested a few slight alterations which the publisher was cool with, so I'm really excited for it. I’m not sure if I can share it with you yet, but as soon as I can I certainly shall.
I also submitted a short story to a publication for the first time. Unfortunately it wasn't selected, but the feedback was nice. I submitted the same story to another publication so if they turn it down I may just post it here. I did get an illustration accepted to The Groke though, so that's really cool.
Reading
Here's my reading stats for September as recounted by StoryGraph.
Of these I'd say Death of Captain Marvel was the standout, although I did really enjoy Warlock by Jim Starlin. You can read about them at the below link if you wish.
Stories of the Occult was kind of interesting, but each entry was only 2-3 pages long, so the meat of each was never sunk into. Also, as I'm a bit of a supernatural/ occult nerd and read/ watch/ listen to a lot of occult/ supernatural media, I'd heard a good 60% of the stories already.
Collecting:
As you might imagine, there was no collecting activity this month. Not having a job means I don’t spend any money I don’t have to, so the only things I bougt that could fall into this category were my monthly comics.
So that's how September shook out. Here's hoping October will end on a better note.
TTFN.
Thanks for the post, Joe. I like quick ideas for next reads. Also, I didn't know about StoryGraph, I'll check it out!
